Welcome
March 10, 2009

Friends,

Thanks for visiting my new website.

On February 2nd, I made official my desire to seek the office of Commissioner of Agriculture for the great State of Florida. Those of you who know me well understand that this is more than the beginning of a new journey, but an opportunity to return to my roots and apply the experience I have gained from working in the citrus and cattle business, the Legislature and Congress to protecting Florida’s nearly twenty million consumers and one of her largest industries.

A fifth generation Floridian, I grew up working in my family citrus and cattle business and participating in 4-H and FFA. I was introduced to public service while serving as state 4-H President in high school. That work led me to the University of Florida where I majored in Food and Resource Economics. In 1996 I decided to run for the Legislature believing then, as I do now, that our state needs long term thinking and generational leadership to approach old problems anew. The issues we face together – as producer and consumer – demand no less.

I am excited about the campaign ahead and the opportunity it represents to visit every corner of our diverse state, listening and learning from the most valuable asset in Florida – you. I will be joined in that effort by my wife, Melissa and our four children who have put out their fair share of yard signs and represent the future we are all working for.

The only thing missing is you. Please join us on this journey to keep Florida special and make her even better for future generations.

Sign up to be a part of something bigger than us all – fulfilling Florida’s potential.

I look forward to earning your trust and support in the coming months. Please check back often for updates on how the journey is going.

May God continue to bless our great state!
