Florida’s unrelenting heat is often felt in our utility bills. Fortunately, new, energy-efficient products on the market can help you reduce energy usage and save money.
This year I partnered with Sen. Anitere Flores and Rep. Mike Hill, along with other leaders in the Florida Legislature, to help you conserve our precious natural resources and save money on your utility bills. We created Florida’s first tax-free holiday weekend for energy-efficient appliances.
Starting Friday and running through Sunday, Floridians will pay no sales tax on up to $1,500 on purchases of ENERGY STAR appliances and WaterSense products. This includes light bulbs, ceiling fans, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines and more.
ENERGY STAR products use at least 10 percent less energy, and WaterSense products use at least 20 percent less water. Over the life of these appliances, these efficiencies add up to significant savings on your utility bill.
